Extended School Time
Beacon understands that for many families and children the school day does not end with the last class. We offer a number of options for the extended day, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (all with an additional fee). Drop-off for the regular school day begins at 8:30 (no additional fee).
Beacon Extended School Time: B.E.S.T.
Beacon’s after-school program is a social, recreational, and arts-in-nature program that provides a safe and engaging place for students to interact after school. Trained staff members provide a balance between structured activities and free play. Activities include arts and crafts, cooking, musical activities, and physical recreation.
Students enjoy the same instructor and group of students their own age for the school year, so students can connect with children and adults beyond their regular school-day classes in a caring atmosphere where community is cultivated. We serve a snack, and the afternoon includes outdoor play time. In Grades 6 – 8, B.E.S.T. students can also participate in Study Hall 3:05-3:50 p.m. Monday – Thursday and in after-school athletics teams.
All B.E.S.T. staff works 2:30pm – 6:00pm. The B.E.S.T. staff organizes special activity days for all participants that provide an opportunity for children to interact with students of other ages. These activities might include:
- Winter Festival
- Multicultural World Celebration
- B.E.S.T on Wheels
- Art Show
- Talent Show
- B.E.S.T. Picnic
The extended day program offers a variety of enrichment classes beyond the school curriculum for an additional fee. Registration for these programs is on a first-come, first-served basis. Details are available at the beginning of each trimester. Some of the classes include:
- Mad Science
- Lego Engineering
