Because the arts are infused throughout the curriculum at Beacon, they are very much a part of school life. The Beacon community enjoys nearly 20 student performances each year, ranging from dance lecture-demonstrations to poetry and music recitals, and including two large productions: Hallelujah Harvest and Spring Sing Fling.
Student art is exhibited throughout the school all year, as well as in the annual Student Art Show each June and out in the community at various venues in special exhibits. Beacon Day School is also a participant in East Bay Open Studios.
In addition to the arts classes that are part of Beacon’s core curriculum, students with special interest and aptitude may be invited to join one of Beacon’s extra-curricular music or dance ensembles. Music ensembles include: saxophone, guitar, chorus, recorders, and percussion. Private lessons are also available on site. Dance ensemble gives students a chance to delve deeper into technique and choreography.
