Visit the School

Parents and guardians of prospective students are encouraged to first visit the school without their child/ren, either by attending an Information Morning or scheduling a small group tour. On Information Mornings, the school is open to prospective parents and guardians for a school tour, curriculum presentation, and Q & A session. See the Admission Calendar for scheduled dates. Application for Admission

Submit your completed application (download an application), $75 application fee, a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a recent photo of your child directly to the Admission Office. Application also requires completed a recommendation form and records release form, as follows:

  • Kindergarten through grade 5: 1 recommendation from current classroom teacher
  • Grades 1–5: Records Release Form. Please complete, sign, and give to your child’s current school in order for that school to release the transcript directly to Beacon Day School.

Recommendation forms are confidential and must be mailed directly to Beacon from the teachers who complete them. Download a kindergarten recommendation form or grade1-5 recommendation form.

Student Evaluation for Admission

Beginning in December, applicants will be scheduled for an individual assessment with Beacon’s Learning Specialist to determine academic readiness and placement in our program. The assessment is approximately 20 minutes long and is designed to determine the child’s skill level for reading, writing and math concepts. After the assessment, the parent/guardian meet with the Learning Specialist to receive feedback about the assessment. The child visits a classroom at this time.

Admission Decisions

If you have submitted an application by our deadline date for fall entry, you will receive an admission decision in the mail on the March date set each year by EBISA. (See Admission Calendar.) You must return your enrollment contract and deposit within a week of receiving our admission decision to reserve your child’s space in our program. Applications for entry at other points in the school year will be decided within two weeks of the assessment.
